Dr. Bin Lu
Bin Lu is a Senior Research Fellow at the Australian National University’s School of Engineering.
He is leading the Renewable Energy Systems Program in the ANU Grand Challenge initiative: Zero-Carbon Energy for the Asia-Pacific. Dr Lu holds a PhD in Renewable Energy and a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering.
He is a former senior electrical engineer and has a decade of work experience in large- scale electrical system design. His research interests include energy system modelling, renewable energy resource assessment, geographic information system algorithm development, and power system analysis.
Dr Lu is a recipient of the Eureka Prize for Environmental Research for his invention of the GIS algorithm STORES, which led to the discovery of abundant hydro storage resources to support large-scale renewable energy integration.
He has received multiple research awards, including the International Hydrogen Research Fellowship, ACAP Fellowship, and ANU Grand Challenge Fellow. His research on 100% renewable energy futures has garnered an audience of 15 million worldwide.
