Dr. Heather Shewan
Heather is an Advance Queensland Industry Research Fellow at the University of Queensland who
has developed an antiviral surface cleaner that will decrease the survival time of SARS-Cov-2 on
surfaces.
Since obtaining her PhD in Soft Particle Suspension Rheology in 2015, she has developed a
unique combination of expertise in rheology, surface science, food engineering and food sensory
science.
Dr Shewan’s research concerns the rheology of soft matter systems including rheologically
complex fluids and soft materials. She applies this knowledge to develop structure-property-
processing relationships for soft matter systems relevant to foods, pharmaceuticals and medical
applications.
