
Dr Mark Diesendorf
Mark Diesendorf is an Honorary Associate Professor in Environment and Society at UNSW Sydney, and a senior editor for energy at the international journal, Global Sustainability.
Originally trained as a physicist, Mark became a principal research scientist at CSIRO, and then broadened into interdisciplinary energy research, specialising in energy policy, theory of sustainability, ecological economics, and practical processes by which government, business and other organisations can achieve sustainable and socially just development.
From 1996 to 2001, A/Prof. Diesendorf was Professor of Environmental Science and Founding Director of the Institute for Sustainable Futures at the University of Technology, Sydney.
Based on his belief that science, technology and economics should serve the community, he has at various times been co-founder and vice president of the Sustainable Energy Industries Council of Australia and co-founder and president of the original Australasian Wind Energy Association.
