Matt Trau is a 2022 ARC Australian Laureate Fellow. He is Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Centre for Personalised Nanomedicine at the University of Queensland. He is also senior group leader and co-founder of the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology. His research is dedicated towards developing innovative nano-diagnostic and nano-manufacturing systems to help transform the healthcare system towards early detection and personalised treatment of disease through a combination of innovative diagnostic technology, novel molecular-guided therapies and preventative measures. He has formerly been an ARC Federation Fellow (one of Australia’s most prestigious scientific fellowships), a Fulbright Research Fellow at Princeton University, a research scientist at Dow Chemical and ICI Pty Ltd, and a Visiting Professor at Harvard Medical School’s Dana Farber Cancer Research Institute and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre. He has co-authored more than 250 publications, many of which appear in the highest impact scientific journals, and his lab has created technologies that have helped found four companies.
