Dr. Felipe Torres
Felipe is a Senior Lecturer and convener of Aerodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer at the School of Engineering of The Australian National University (ANU).
His research interests are in complex transport phenomena involving flow of fluids, species and heat, with applications in environmental, energy and aerospace engineering. Outstanding research contributions include hierarchical coatings for enhanced solar thermal energy conversion and development of the first single-phase, materials-free desalination method – thermodiffusive desalination.
Dr Torres has 2.5 years of industry experience at Toshiba Corporation, Japan, where he lived for 12.5 years prior to moving to Australia. He is the Group Leader of the ANU HEAT Lab, a research group dedicated to advance technologies based on heat transfer processes for environmental, energy and aerospace applications.
