Prof. Louwrens Hoffman
Louwrens (Louw) is a Meat Scientist working at the Centre for Nutrition and Food Sciences within the Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAAFI) at the University of Queensland.
As a trained animal scientist, he focuses on the effect of the environment and production systems on red meat and meat analogues’ quality attributes.
Of special interest is the use of insects as a partial substitute for meat in processed products as well the utilisation of exotic meat species as a sustainable food source.
