
Prof. Matthew England
Matthew is Scientia Professor of Ocean & Climate Dynamics at the UNSW Sydney Climate Change Research Centre, and Deputy Director of the ARC Australian Centre for Excellence in Antarctic Science. His research focuses on large-scale ocean circulation and the influence of the oceans on regional and global climate, from the tropics to Antarctica, spanning timescales of seasons to millennia.
Matthew previously worked at the Centre de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), France and at CSIRO’s Climate Change Research Program. He has been with UNSW Sydney since 1995 and held an ARC Federation Fellowship from 2006-2010 and an ARC Laureate Fellowship during 2011-2016. He is an elected Fellow of both the Australian Academy of Science and the American Geophysical Union.
