The combined impacts of rising temperatures, increased frequency of extreme weather events, the spread of climate-sensitive diseases, along with food and water shortages are predicted to result in a spiralling death toll toward one-billion people over the next century as Professor Emeritus RALPH COONEY from the University of Auckland explains.
