
Prof. Peter Newman
Peter Newman is a John Curtin Distinguished Professor in Sustainability at Curtin University, in Perth, Australia. He has written 23 books and 400 papers and is globally recognised in urban planning and transport, climate mitigation, and sustainable development policy.
Peter is the coordinating lead author for the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for Transport and the editor-in-chief of the Springer journal Sustainable Earth; he regularly shares his expertise on sustainable cities in the media and at public events.
A former WA Scientist of the Year, Peter has been awarded an Order of Australia for his contributions to urban design and sustainable transport, particularly his work in saving and rebuilding Perth’s rail system.
