Prof. Renate Egan
Renate Egan leads UNSW Sydney’s activity in the Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics and is Deputy Head of School (Engagement) for Solar PV and Renewable Energy Engineering. She joined UNSW after a 20-year career in industry where she led the development and manufacture of energy technologies in Australia, Germany, and China. This experience now informs her research, which develops models and metrics to assess the commercial viability and impact of new technology developments on energy markets.
Renate was named one of Eight Great Women in the Business of Science and Solar by Renewable Energy World and was recently inducted into the Australian Smart Energy Council Hall of Fame. She sits on a number of national and international panels, boards, and review committees across the energy sector, and is co-founder of Solar Analytics, Australia’s largest independent energy monitoring provider.
