Prof. Susanne Schmidt
Susanne is a scientist and educator at The University of Queensland.
At the intersect of agricultural and biological science, she leads a vibrant team researching natural and agroecosystems. Supported by industry and government stakeholders, they advance the circular nutrient economy for a world without waste and pollution. The team generates knowledge on how to restore degraded soils and landscapes for sustainable food production and to maximise ecosystem services that support climate change mitigation. Great promise has the repurposing organic wastes as compost to boost soil fertility, crop yield and store carbon in soil, all of which support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
