
Dr Sofia Samper Carro
Dr Sofia Samper Carro is a post-doctoral researcher at the Australian National University College of Asia and the Pacific. She is an expert in the study of faunal assemblages from 70,000 to 3,000 years ago in Western Europe, Southeast Asia and near Oceania. She is also a renowned researcher in the study of burial practices and human remains in Island Southeast Asia. She has recently begun exploring new approaches to the analysis of fauna and hominin remains in Oceania. As such, she is currently leading a project aimed at creating the first working group in ancient protein (palaeoproteomics) in the Southern Hemisphere, housed at the ANU.
