
Prof. Jason Byrne
Jason Byrne is Professor of Human Geography and Planning at the University of Tasmania. He researches urban greenspace, climate change adaptation, and environmental inequality.
He is Associate Editor for the field-leading academic journal Landscape and Urban Planning. A Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA), Jason has previously won PIA’s national award for cutting edge research and teaching, and overall award for planning excellence.
He completed his PhD at the University of Southern California (2007), receiving a commendation for his research on parks and social inequality. He was a Senior Fellow at Johns Hopkins University Institute for Policy Studies (1999), researching environmental inequality.
Jason previously worked as a planner, policy officer and environmental officer with the Western Australian government.
